- Citizen's Hat and Stand is one of my very few "Social
Consciousness" art pieces. It was
inspired by my days as a federal government employee at the USGS.
The hat is made to be as uncomfortable as possible.
Inserting the disc activates an annoying beeping sound while a music box
plays "White Christmas" over and over. Slides
in the slide viewers in the eyeholes control what the wearer sees.
Knobs also control which slide the viewer sees. Various lights
and knobs around the hat have no discernable function. A symbol of
all that our (and to be fair most) societies hold dear is stuck in the
dead tree at the top of the hat.

- This is why I don't generally like "Social
Consciousness" Art. Sometimes you just have to do it anyway.
