MATRIMONIAL BARS (DATE BARS)
Dough -
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
 
Filling -
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 lb. chopped dates
 
Mix dough, spread half in ungreased square cake pan.  Boil filling ingredients together and pour over dough in pan.  Top filling with rest of dough.  Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.  When cool cut in squares.
